Fair update July 12, 2007
Clubs with 5 or more members must post a barn
schedule for your clubs area. Pens must be
totally cleaned out once mid week, preferably
Wednesday morning. Club leaders keep track
please. I will be checking with you during the
week. Please go over the barn rules on the
declaration form with your exhibitors.
The barn layout will be complete as soon as I get
some more information from exhibitors. If you are
not bringing as many goats as you declared please
let me know as soon as possible. The barn will be full again.
Goat leaders meeting will be in the picnic area
right after check in, sometime between 4 and 5pm.
Weigh in for market wethers will be Sunday
sometime between 4 and 6pm. Have your exhibitors
with market wethers be around the barn. Market
wether record books must have the drug letter
attached. There are 10 market wethers this year!
Last night at the fairboard meeting I got my
report on how many are in each class, so I can
get started on the program and prizes. Printing
again of the program will be through Lowell
Schools which gave us the best price. Since we
are not having another GDC meeting until August,
I am proposing to purchase the following
giveaways/prizes in events that have had prizes and giveaways in the past.
Quiz Bowl 4 prizes for 2nd and 3rd place in
Junior and senior, I am thinking two 15.00 gift
cards for 2nd place and two 10.00 gift cards for
3rd place. That is 50.00 alone. These kids really
study for quizbowl and I’d like to see them
rewarded. Last year a parent donated the gift
cards. This year there are 28 signed up for Quiz
Bowl. If we had tons of money I would like to get
something for everyone who does the quizbowl,
maybe next year we could look at that.
Costume class – we usually have a separate
anonymous donor for the 1st through 3rd place,
generous gift cards. I’d like to purchase
something small for all in the costume class.
Last year it was 4H bumper stickers. The year
before that it was 4H lanyards and before that it
was 4H bandanas. Quantity on that is – 24 entries
Explorers – we have 5 this year and I have made
up a goodie bag in the past for each one.
Trail class, most everyone does this and in the
past we have given out 4H bookmarks, pens, 4H
buttons, suckers, etc. We have 32 entries and
most years we have a few extra who have not signed up who want to participate.
In the bank now we have 50.12 in the savings and
117.73 in the checking. I could easily spend all
of that. If anyone has any concerns about this
please let me know asap. Some items will be from
the 4H Mall and mail order takes some time so I
need to order soon. Also if there are any last
minute donations make them payable to GDC.
